It's early 1990, and James is on his way to Germany, newly posted to 8 Regiment, Royal Corps of Transport, fresh from basic training. The dust, both physical and political, of the fallen Berlin Wall has yet to settle. As James begins his military career, he steps into a Europe that only months before would have been unimaginable. Settling into life in the British Army and Germany, he begins to appreciate his good fortune. But just as things seem to be falling into place, a poor decision by Saddam Hussein takes an unexpected turn, leading James from the relative calm of Germany to the troubled streets of Belfast.
